BC 150: Year-long party for the Best Place on Earth
This year marks the 150th anniversary of British Columbia. Whether newcomer or native, you’ll surely agree that BC is a spectacular place.
From the fur trade, mining and logging to First Nations, the BC Gold Rush and the growth of culturally diverse cities and towns, BC’s history is a rich and colourful pageant.
The development of seaplane aviation here is inextricably linked to the history of British Columbia. As a seaplane pioneer, Harbour Air proudly shares in the celebration of the adventures, struggles, people, events and achievements that have shaped the provincial identity.
Think Pink
We've made some changes to our Pink Fridays program.
Harbour Air employees still wear pink on Fridays to signify our corporate and individual commitments to our communities. However, instead of donating $1 from every Friday flight to a different charity each month, we now select multiple recipients each month from each of the regions we service to receive the Gift of Flight or a gift-in-kind donation. This allows us to provide a wider range of sponsorship opportunities to BC community organizations, schools, athletic teams, people and non-profits.
“Seaplanes have had a significant role in the building of British Columbia along the western coast and Vancouver Island,” said Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Stan Hagen. “With a long-standing history of service in BC, Harbour Air was a natural partner for participating in this celebration of community strength and achievement.”
Harbour Air’s senior vice-president Randy Wright agrees: “We are extremely excited to have been approached to be a partner for the BC150 Celebrations. Harbour Air takes pride in serving British Columbia’s communities and preserving a true west coast tradition. We feel this is a great opportunity to help bring exposure to all this province has achieved over the past one hundred and fifty years.”
As a show of our support, you’ll notice special provincial flags and the BC150 logo displayed in our terminals as well as logos on all of our aircraft. There will be many celebratory events and exhibits happening around the province throughout the year—look for inspiration in the pages of Coastlines and check our website or the BC150 Years website for news and events: www.harbourair.com or www.bc150.ca.
